Skagit County Community Action Agency is the proud sponsor of three AmeriCorps programs, collectively called Serve Northwest Washington. It is a resource to connect volunteer communities in northwest Washington including AmeriCorps members, volunteer centers, non-profits, and individuals. Serve Northwest Washington is made up of over 80 AmeriCorps members serving in Skagit, Whatcom, and Snohomish counties.

Our three teams:

  • ARRA (American Recovery & Reinvestment Act): Places 12 AmeriCorps*State members in positions focused on non-profit capacity building, weatherization, and food access.
  • Northwest Washington Reading Corps: Places 60 AmeriCorps*State members in elementary schools and early learning centers to improve the reading abilities of young children and to strengthen family involvement.
  • Skagit VISTA: Places 11 AmeriCorps*VISTA members in the community with an emphasis on anti-poverty programs.
